Map

Description

Our cruise will take you to one of the most beautiful places in Los Glaciares National Park, a place only a few people have the privilege of accessing: the Mayo Channel of Lake Argentino.

This place has a microclimate, with higher humidity within the park, generating completely different, unique, and beautiful vegetation.

The “Mayo Spirit Trek” is the perfect combination of forest hikes, observing waterfalls, rivers, hanging glaciers, and a visit to the unmissable Perito Moreno Glacier (navigation along the north wall and walkways).

Suitable for all ages, with hikes of medium difficulty, it is recommended for those who want to discover the “heart of Los Glaciares National Park.”

Program

Landing: BAHÍA TORO

(Total hike distance: approximately 700 meters / Difficulty: easy, flat terrain.)

We will disembark at Bahía Toro and, accompanied by the boat guide, we will take an interpretive hike through the Patagonian Andean forest until we reach the waterfall.

From the lake shore, we can see the hanging glaciers of Cerro Mayo and Cerro Negro.

We will return to the boat and, in just 15 more minutes of sailing, we will reach our next stop…

Landing: CERRO NEGRO

(Total hike distance: approximately 1,000 meters / Difficulty: medium, gentle slope.)

We will disembark at Cerro Negro and, together with the boat guide, begin a hike deep into the Patagonian Andean forest. We will follow a river that will take us to Cerro Negro itself. We will arrive a few meters from the base of the hill and from there we will be able to contemplate the wonderful Negro Glacier. This is a “hanging” glacier (it sits on the mountain), and a large number of waterfalls originate from it, which give rise to the river we followed throughout our hike.

We will remain here for a while, observing the incredible landscape around us. Then, we will return to the boat that will take us to our next destination…

Landing: PERITO MORENO GLACIER WALKWAYS

Resuming our navigation, we will leave the Mayo Sound of Lake Argentino to once again sail through the Iceberg Channel. During this part of the tour, we will take advantage of the opportunity to have lunch on board (please bring a lunch box).

In a few minutes, we will begin to see (at the end of the Channel) the north face of the Perito Moreno Glacier. Upon arrival, we will slowly sail past the wall.

Then, we will disembark at Puerto Perito Moreno and head (accompanied by the boat guide) to the walkways located in front of the Perito Moreno Glacier. There, we will have free time to walk and observe the glacier from the various balconies.

At the time set by the guide, we will return to Puerto Perito Moreno to re-embark and return to the original departure point, Puerto de Punta Bandera.
